Raw Milk & Dairy Products

Our land and our cows

Royalty Rock Jerseys offers raw milk through a 6 month herdshare program. The farm located in Alvaton, KY is where our registered Jersey cattle call home. When we aren’t on the farm, we take vacations with our Jerseys to compete in dairy shows across Kentucky! We have animals that hold titles for Junior Champion Jersey at many distinct dairy shows as well as Supreme Heifer and 2021 Reserve Junior Champion Jersey at the Kentucky State Fair. We invite customers to come out to the farm to see how our ladies live everyday and would love to give you the opportunity to meet and milk the cows that provide us with nature's most nearly perfect food.

Our cows are milked twice a day. Our Jerseys spend their days on a 12-acre pasture with free choice hay and unlimited access to cold, clean water. During milking, cows are offered a custom supplement of organic, non-GMO, non-soy, grain to keep their condition. The milk is collected into a stainless steel pail then brought inside to be strained through a gauze filter into glass bottles that are immediately chilled. All of our cows live their life holistically without the use of any vaccines, hormones, or antibiotics.

*Disclaimer, our hearts ache if we notice our animals are in discomfort. If an animal is showing symptoms of an illness or discomfort that can not be treated with the use of holistic medicine, we will treat them accordingly to ensure they are comfortable. We will always inform our customers and discard contaminated milk.

What is raw milk?

Raw milk is simple. It is milk that is unpasteurized and non-homogenized milk, meaning that all of its nutrients are readily available and that the cream will naturally rise to the top.

Raw milk vs. conventional milk?

Raw milk contains 100% active Vitamin A, C, E, iron, zinc, calcium, enzymes, immunoglobulins, and whey protein. The enzymes are activated in the digestive tract and aid in digesting the many components in milk. In pasteurized milk, those enzymes are lost during the heating process. Also during the pasteurization process, many of the nutrients available are significantly reduced or destroyed.

Isn’t Raw Milk Illegal?

The retail sale of raw milk is illegal in the state of Kentucky. However, nothing is stopping someone from drinking milk from their own cow via herdshare. By the customer paying a herdshare and boarding fee, they are technically drinking milk from their own cow which allows the sale of raw milk through herdshare to be legal and safe. The legalization of herdshares was passed by the Senate spring 2012.

Raw Milk Pricing and fees?

HERDSHARE FEE- $50 good for 6 months

A bi-annual herdshare fee of $50 is good for up to six months. This fee allows you to “own” a percentage of the cow and like mentioned above, owning the cow allows you to legally consume the milk and raw byproducts.

BOARDING FEE- $40 per month

A monthly boarding fee of $40 covers the cost of feed, bedding, daily care, and milking of the cow. Customers provide their own 1 gallon jar or 2 half gallon jars that will be exchanged at each pick up. Boarding fee entitles each customer 1 gallon of milk per week. Additional gallons of milk may be purchased each week, subject to availability.
